Additive effect refers to the effect of using two drugs together being equal to the effect of using double the dose of each drug individually. If the therapeutic effect obtained from using two drugs together is greater than the sum of the effects of each drug used alone, it is referred to as a synergistic effect.
How to determine whether there is a synergistic effect or an additive effect between two drugs?
Due to the many factors that can affect efficacy in animal experiments or clinical treatments, unless the result obtained significantly increases compared to the sum of the efficacy of each drug, it can be clearly determined that a synergistic effect has been achieved, otherwise it is generally referred to as an enhancing effect
